How to avoid an exam panic attack

We all have to go through it, the dreaded exam period. For me this consists of comfy pyjama bottoms, drinking tea by the bucket load and getting distracted by a dust particle that flies by, because it's way more interesting than the school books in front of me.

I'm going to show you a few ways that help me de-stress during the exams. I hope you find some of these tips useful!
Remember people: do your best, and you'll be packing for your holidays before you know it.

Tip 1:

Take regular breaks; this will make your study time more effective. I get distracted so easily if I've been sitting behind my desk for hours on end. By taking a short break after an about hour and a half, you'll have time to process the study matter and you'll give your hard-working brain a rest. Now make sure you don't cheat; studying for 15 min and then taking a 30min break does NOT count!

Tip 2:

Be organised, make sure your workspace is tidy. Your workplace is the reflection of  your mind, tidy working area equals tidy mind :). It'll just make your life so much easier when you're desperately looking for that one pink marker.

Tip 3:

Do some yoga; after you've finished your work or during the study breaks. It'll get your mind off of that one stupid word or math formula that just doesn't fit inside of your brain anymore. If you're a yoga noob then I can not advise you enough to go and watch Adriene on Youtube. Her channel is called Yoga with Adriene. She's a pro when it comes to all things yoga and she explains every pose into detail. Even I can perform these poses, and I'm a no balance kind of person.

Tip 4:

Have plenty of healthy, but yummy snacks. I always like to nibble on nuts, dried fruit, rice crackers with almond butter, bananas, just anything that will revitalise your body and mind. Tea is a must for me. Besides your good old breakfast tea or Earl Gray, I also really like the Twining herbal tea. This again, just like the snacks, will give you a refreshing boost in between the boring and endless studying.

Tip 5:

Go to bed on time. If you start an exam looking and feeling like a zombie, you might not get the grades you wanted/expected. This does mean that you'll have to study efficiently during the day, otherwise you'll have to keep on studying late at night because you procrastinated for 3 hours looking up Youtube videos on what to take to your upcoming summer festival (guilty).

Work towards the summer. If that's not a motivation then I don't know what is. Just remember to do your best and you'll be absolutely fine.

p.s I wrote this when I should have been studying physics (Nobody's perfect ok?)

Good luck!

No longer a M.A.C virgin

The deed has been done, I caved and bought my very first M.A.C lipstick. Yesssss. About time I say, it took me long enough. What made me cave was the fact that  I was shopping around in Paris, yes you read it right, I was casually shopping along the Champs-Elysée ( it was a school holiday see previous post). My and my friend Kristina both got our very first lipstick together, we pushed each other into buying it, but there are no regrets in sight.

As it was my first M.A.C lipstick I thought it was best to go for an easy to wear nude, and that is exactly what I got. After about 30min of swatching I went  for a Lilly Pebbles inspired lipstick.
A luster finish lipsitck in Syrup. I think I'm in love, it is so easy yet lovely to wear.

All I can say is; Once you go M.A.C you never go back...

What is your favourite M.A.C lipstick?

It has been way to long since I uploaded, school has been hectic; I know I can't completely blame it on school but it has been so busy and hard work. Now it's holiday there are no excuses, so I'm back!

My top drugstore nudes

I'm not a bold person when it comes to lipstick. This however doesn't stop me from buying the 'in your face' colours. If I'm wearing make-up and I want to add something extra I tend to go for a neutral lipstick, nothing too dramatic but still face completing.

I'm going to show you 3 of my  favourite drugstore nudes ( I don't have any high end ones haha ). All of them different but all lovely and easy to wear.

1.  Essence lipstick - 07 Natural Beauty

This is the most opaque one of the bunch. I've written about it before in one of my first posts so I've had it for quite a while but it's still a beaut.
It's a pinky leaning over the slight lilac side, it's definitely a your lips but better kind of lipstick. The lasting power is nothing out of the ordinary, if you need topping up it won't be problem with this one, you don't need a mirror to apply it. If your not comfortable with wearing the bold reds and pinks then this one is perfect for you.

 2. The Soap&Glory Sexy Mother Pucker - Nudist

The Gabby special, for all of you who read or watch Gabby ( Velvetghost ) you will most definitely have heard of this one. Its an orangy/browny glossy lip pen. I love it even though I've only had it for a week. It's hassle-free and so easy for those on the go days. Apply some of this and you'll have those glossy plump lips that Dolly Parton would be jealous of.

 3. Seventeen Mirror Shine - Beehive

Lilly put me on to this one. I'm not sure if it's the exact same colour but it's the same range. This one, like the S&G one, is glossy and sheer but never the less stunning.  I'm all about the easy application and this one fulfills my wishes. It's a coral pink with tons of glossiness.

Sorry that I have been living in inactivity city but the last few weeks have been hella busy. It always feels so good to be blogging again, I always forget how much I enjoy writing about this kind of stuff, I've missed it.

Hope you enjoyed this little lipstick post.

The Liebster Award

Well hello there. I have recently been nominated by Megan Hayes to do the Liebster Award. I had no idea what this was so I took to the internet and found out it's a kind of tag for smaller bloggers ( like me and Megan). This way we might get noticed a little bit more :)

Rules:

Thank and link the person who nominated you.
Answer the questions given by the nominator.
Nominate 11 small blogs (under 200 followers) who you think deserve this award.
Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer.
Notify nominees via social media/ blogs.

Questions:

1. What is your favourite book?

Hmmmm this is difficult :). I really enjoyed this series a few years ago, it's probably a bit too young for me now but back then I read them like there was no tomorrow. The Gallagher Academy series. The series contain 6 books and I really liked them because they combined romance with a spy school and all of that cool stuff!

2. If you could meet anyone, who would it be?

Well, I've been thinking about this question for quite a while and I must say it was hard :) I would love to meet Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup and Lilly Pebbles those two are my role models. I would also really like to meet Harry Styles because he is just gorgeous!

3. Favourite perfume?

Most definitely Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, I cannot put my love for this perfume into words haha! It is just divine!

4. Are you a cat or a dog person?

Can I be both? I have a cat and a dog. What can I say I'm an animal lover :)

5. Do you have any hobbies?

I get singing lessons, I'm not very good at it but it's fun. I also play the saxophone, which I really love doing! And then I do jazz and contemporary dance. And blogging of course. Busy busy busy....

6. Best memory?

This one is just impossible, I'm like obsessed with taking pictures, planning fun family/friend outings no wonder they call me the memoriemaker in my family. So to pick one would be just impossible :)

7. What is your favourite TV programme?

Teen wolf, Gery's anatomy, Bones, Doctor Who, Miranda, ... A long list of favourites.

8. Nicest person you know?

My best friend Elise, she is so selfless and so helpful! Sometimes I feel like I don't deserve to have her as a friend because she's so amazing!

9. How would you describe yourself?

Bubbly, active, kind of weird, socially awkward, hopeless romantic (without a boyfriend), emotional, positive and really loves food :)

10. Favorite outfit?

Either a playsuit, I just love the no effort :) or basic stuff like jeans with a  top and converse.

11. What would be ideal holiday?

The Isles Of Scilly, I did not have to think about that. I've been going there since the year I was born, we go nearly every other year so it feels like a second home. I would love to go with a mixture of friends and family, we usually go with a big group of people and the atmosphere is never dull!

My nominees:

Perfect Fixations
Shazza Shots
MMXIV
Barely Branded
Life of Lauren
Floral Beauty xo
Ooh La Luce
Crazyinbeauty

My questions:

- Are you a tea or coffee person? ( or neither?)
- Favourite lipstick?
- What is your favourite pick me up song?
- A lazy sunday, what does this look like for you?
- What is your favourite app on your phone?
- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
- You have £1000 to which charity would you donate it?
- What is your most favourite picture you've taken?
- How can you best describe yourself? ( stolen from Megan :) )
- Do you have a saying that is typical for you?
- Of which blog post are you most proud?

I hope you enjoy answering these questions! Hopefully I helped spread a little bit of love in our smaller blog community :)

Muppets Most Wanted

Christmas has been and gone and it has left me with a few bits to review. I've already reviewed a body shop product - here and some Bobbi Brown products - here. Now it's time for some nail polish goodness. The Disney for O.P.I  Muppets Most Wanted mini gift set made its way under my Christmas tree. So lets get straight into the review.

Polish n°1: Miss Piggy's Big Number

This is a sapphire blue with tiny shimmery particles running through it. In a gift set you usually have 1 or 2 colours that don't really appeal to you. At first sight this was the one for me. It's definitely not a colour I'd normally wear but don't judge before you've tried it. The nail polish is really opaque and is has good lasting power, minimal chippage!

Polish n°2: Chillin' Like A Villain

This is most definitely not a colour I would've picked out myself. It's an orange nude. I personally don't really like this colour but again the lasting power is amazing! This one did need 3 coats to get a nice colour coverage.

Polish n°4: Kermit me to speak

This one is without doubt my favourite. This such an interesting colour that looks different in the light. It's a green/purple varnish with shimmer running through it. Nothing like I own in my collection. I was most exited to use this one and it did not disappoint. Two coats and you're good to go. It stayed put during the busy week after Christmas, it only chipped slightly.

Polish n°4: I Love Applaus

A baby pink or a milky pink as I like to call it. This, like Chillin' Like A Villain, does need 3 coats but it's well worth it. It looks sweet and girly on  the nails and it just adds a little je ne sais quoi.

Now I've had a taste of O.P.I  I want to go back for more....

Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil

This product has me hooked. It's as simple as that.

This glorious product would never have found its way into my skincare routine without Amelia Liana. She kept on talking about it on her YouTube channel and one day I walked passed the Body Shop and thought: what the hell lets see what all the fuss is about. I could not imagine me taking my make-up off with any other product.

First of all it smells amazing! Fresh and floral but not in a granny like way.

Second of all it melts all kind of make-up away, waterproof or not. It breaks down your make-up of the day without any trouble.

Last but not least: it makes my skin feel amazingly soft, like a baby's behind. :) Because it's an oil it is a perfect product for the winter time, ain't nobody got time for dry dull looking skin

I hope you enjoyed this short but sweet blog post. Hope you had a good start to the new year and may 2015 be a good one!

Bobbi Brown Heaven

It has happened, I am no longer a stranger to Bobbi Brown. On my blog I have said it a few times, the balance on my bank account does not allow me to buy high end make-up. My mom however managed to gobsmack me. She got me a shiny, black, wrapped with red ribbon box with the glorious letters spelling out Bobbi Brown. Imagine it: angels singing, heavenly light coming from above and a speachless girl in her Christmas Pj's. My Christmas has been perfected

Disclaimer: I have no intention of bragging. I just wanted to share my thoughts on these products.

Product n°1   -  Nail polish - Cherry Tomato

This is a beautiful red. Not a dark oxblood red but a red phone box kind of red. The brush is just your standard brush. The formula is very opaque in one coat. If you're in a hurry just one coat of this and you'd be good to go. I Like how they haven't over complicated the packaging, it's sober and stylish.

Product n°2  -  Lip Balm SPF 15

This is a gorgeously packaged pink coloured lip balm. It has a thick consistency without being sticky and unpleasant. The anti-drying effect of it will be tested out by using it for a bit longer.

Product n°3  - Smokey Eye Mascara

Let me first of all state that the packaging of this product is classy and sophisticated, the complete opposite of me. All of these products make me feel grown up and classy (I'm clearly not but girl is allowed to dream, isnt' she?). The few times that I've used this have not really blown me away. It doesn't give masses of volume or length. However I can see the smokeyness of it. The brush hugs the lashes and separates them at the same time. All in all it's a good mascara.

Product n°4  -  Foundation Stick - 3 Beige

At first sight I thought it would be too yellow but once blended, which is does like a dream, it's okay. It's light weight but it covers up all the things that you want to get rid of. I personally wouldn't put it on my whole face. I apply it under my eyes and on my chin as a base under my foundation.

Product n°5  -  Warm Glow Eye Palette

I kept the best for last. This palette contains 9 warm, browny/goldy eye shadows that range from shimmery to mat. They're buttery, smooth, a dream to blend and it has all the colours I could have ever wished for. It's a little gem. Perfect for the party season! The packaging is very unique and luxurious with it's faux croc leather exterior.

I could not have wished for a better Christmas present. I have been spoiled this year. Thank you momma, your the best! Hope you had an amazing Christmas and I wish you all a very happy New Year!

Mini Lush haul

Ok let's start with the fact that I've been inactive for quiet a while. School has been hella busy, but I'm back (fineally!). To get back into blogging I thought why not go to a shop that is loved in the Blogging/Youtube world: LUSH! Yippie, that shop is a pleasure to shop in and it smells de-li-cious!

Number 1: Cinders bath bomb

I've linked all the products to the Lush website, it has an amazing lay-out and it contains all the information you need :). There you can find all of the ingredients and a description of the product. I chose the Cinders bathbomb because it just smells like autumn/winter. It's sweet but not in a sickly kind of way. You can definitely smell the cinnamon, these warm notes remind me of a cold winters day in front of the fire. It's like Christmas in a bath bomb. ( Yes I'm already very exited for Christmas!)

Number 2: Santa Baby - here: Cherry Bibi

This is a very pigmented lip balm. It's supposed to be a lip balm that can be built up to a bright pop of colour. The consistency is more like a lipstick in a tub than a lip balm. As far as the pigmentation goes, it does pack a punch! The moisturising side of it will have to be tested during the next usages :).

Number 3: Tea Tree Toner Tab

This is a tiny little thing that you have to dissolve in warm water. e.g a bowl, sink. You then put your head over the bowl and cover it with a tea towel or so. This will purify and remove dirt from your pores. Afterwards you put the water with the dissolved tab into a container and keep it in your fridge. You can then use it for a week as a toner :). This was a free sample but they're not expensive to purchase.

This concludes my miniature Lush haul. It was just a simple little post to get into the swing of things again. I'll try to be a more consistent blogger but with the exams coming up won't promise a post a week. I am however very pleased to be back!  Happy Halloween everybody!

My Evening Skincare

As I said in my morning skincare routine I don't use a lot of products, mainly because I'm lazy and I just want an affective routine. :)

Step One: removing make-up

For this I use the Corine De Farme Micellaire Water. It's such a good make-up remover (Another excellent one is the Garnier one. That stuff is good) Mascara, foundation you name it, it will dissolve everything. Just put it on a cotton pad and voilà.

Step Two: cleansing

To get rid of the dirt that builds up during the day I cleanse my face with the Beauty Formulas Vitamin E Foaming Facial Wash. It's just your bog standard face wash but for me it works just fine :). After washing my skin feels clean and fresh.

Step Three: moisturising

This step includes 2 products: The Simple Spotless Skin Anti-Blemish Moisturiser and the Nspa Deep Hydrating Facial Oil. First I apply the cream. I really enjoy using the Simple products especially this one, as I have blemish prone skin . There's something for every skin type. Then for even more hydration I put 3-4 drops of the oil into my palm and work into my skin. It's a light but effective oil that smells amazing. The next day my skin feels lovely and soft.

Well this is the routine I 'perform' before I doze off. If you have any recommendations then just leave them in the comments. I'm always open to trying new products!

Scrumptious Gingernuts

I love baking. There it's out :) I love baking cakes and biscuits just as much as I like to eat them. On a Monday evening approx. 9pm I got those baking feelings. I just felt like I had to rustle up a batch of golden brown beauties. So here is the recipe.

So that was:

350g of self raising flour
150g of caster sugar
75g of golden syrup
125g of butter
1 lightly beaten egg
1 tsp of orange zest
1 tsp of bicarbonate of soda
1 tbsp of ground ginger
a pinch of salt
Method:

Preheat the oven to 125°C ( gas mark 3).
Line an oven tray with baking paper.
Mix the dry ingredients (flour, salt, sugar, bicarb, ginger)into a mixing bowl.
On a low heat melt the butter and golden syrup. Let it cool down a bit and add to the mixing bowl.
After that is mixed, slowly add the egg and orange zest. Mix until everything is combined.
Form equally sized balls and put them on the baking tray. Flatten slightly with your hand.
Let the biscuits bake for approx. 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
Leave them to cool on a cooling rack.
Now make a cup of tea and dunk away!

How very Great British Bake Off appropriate. I hope you like these gingery biscuits. I personally adore them! They're my favorite dunking biscuit. If you decide to make them, then please let me know if you liked them.
